A positive trend in reducing operational safety incidents

The stop immediately bell signal has played an important role in our current Train Crewing Safety Focus on driving down the number of operational safety incidents on our network.

Following a GI released in July, over the last three months, we’ve seen a notable increase in the use of the bell signal and consequently a decrease in doors opened off platform when the bell signal was used by the driver.

This further reinforces the importance of crew working together to achieve safer outcomes.

Our agile response to COVID-19

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, we have all faced various challenges and many of our ways of working have altered to ensure we continue to respond quickly and thoroughly to restrictions and public health orders.

All our teams have gone above and beyond in the face of extraordinary circumstances, helping to deliver some great outcomes for our customers and organisation.

One such example of this in Train Crewing is our rostering team (members of the team pictured above pre-restrictions) who sit within the Day of Operations support function.
