Macdonaldtown’s Ground Based Warning System given the green light

A safety system which eliminates the need for Drivers to sound their horn when departing the Macdonaldtown siding went live on Thursday 29 October.

Following an extensive construction phase, the Ground Based Warning System (GBWS) helps keep our people safe whilst significantly reducing our organisation’s noise impacts in and around the yard.

Creating #techforyou as part of Technology Enabled Workforce

Technology Enabled Workforce (TEW) is all about using technology to give Drivers and Guards the right tools, accurate information and simpler processes. It’ll help to improve how we work within Train Crewing and Sydney Trains.

Prassanth Indrakumar is a former Driver and Shift Manager who has stepped out of his A/Crew Manager role to play a key role in TEW. Here he provides an update on TEW and what’s happening next.

Drivers’ Bright Idea makes the cut

Transport Bright Ideas is an innovation challenge that ran during September and invited people to submit their ideas about creating a better experience for our customers and people.

Out of 236 submissions, eight ‘Pitch to the Panel’ ideas have now been chosen for further development and in amongst those ideas is one from three of our Drivers based at Central.

Rajpreet Johal, Vinesh Khosla and Jins Varghese came up with the idea of a ‘My Mobility’ app for customers travelling by train using a wheelchair.
