Teams make time for early discussion on Baseline Schedules and Master Roster

Depot nominated members of Train Crew, line management and TC&S support units have met to discuss scheduling and rostering plans for 2020.

In a shining example of collaborative working, the parties looked at potential issues with the Master Rosters and workshopped solutions.

Master Roster & Resource Planning (MRRP) Manager Jim Koulouris said the feedback received in each of the sector based sessions would assist his team in delivering a roster that better balances the needs of Train Crew with the needs of our customers.

Changes coming to Workplace by Facebook effective Monday 15 July

There are two changes coming to Workplace – a design change and a domain change.

These changes have been implemented by Facebook to improve the ability to communicate, collaborate and engage across the platform. There will be less clutter and more options to communicate in smaller teams.

On Monday 15 July, we will apply the new design change to all members on our Workplace account. At the same time, we will also be changing to a new web address work-87962806.workplace.com.

Reapply for Secondary Employment approval by 31 July

As we start the new financial year it’s timely that we remind you about any secondary employment you might have.

All secondary employment for both Enterprise Agreement employees and Transport Service Senior Managers and Senior Executives must be declared, with approval sought from your Level 4 Manager (or above).

Current arrangements / approvals expired on 30 June, however a one month grace period is applied. If your employment circumstances have changed at Sydney Trains you must also reapply and obtain approval.

All staff wishing to continue with secondary employment must reapply and get approval by 31 July 2019.

After-hours Rostering Team prepare to clock on

Another major development in Train Crewing and Support has been announced with around-the-clock rostering to be implemented from Sunday 7 July.

The initiative is being introduced to give Crew greater flexibility in completing tasks such as shift swaps.

Gazal Vhora, Acting Manager, Day of Operations Resourcing believes that a 24/7 presence will provide Drivers and Guards with greater assurance that their rostering requests will be seen to quickly, regardless of whether they are made during morning, afternoon or back shift.

Crew deliver excellence

The Train Crewing and Support Excellence Awards ceremony was held late last week with 20 people across the Directorate recognised.

Train Crewing Deputy Executive Director (Sector 2) Karen McCarthy was one of the presenters at the event and she spoke highly of the winners and nominees.

“Regardless of what they were recognised for, the people here today displayed a tremendous commitment to our customers and operations” said Karen.
