Various teams from Train Crew were formally recognised by Andrew Constance, Minister for Transport and Infrastructure last week for their role in delivering a record number of Driver and Guard graduates to the network last year.
The Minister unveiled a plaque at Petersham Training Centre and spoke with training representatives including a Principal Driver, Principal Guard, Driver Trainer and Guard Trainers about their valuable contribution.
Elizabeth Platts, Guard Trainer was thankful of the Minister’s recognition and proud that her team had helped provide over 200 new Guards to Sydney Trains in the past 12 months.
“It’s great being recognised for your work, but you would be hard pressed to find a Guard Trainer that does the job for that reason,” said Elizabeth.
“We’re in this because we want to help our new Guards reach their potential and to have a highly developed understanding of our safety principles and operation.
“Although I was honoured to receive this on behalf of the Guard Trainers, for me, the most important thing was the knowledge that we contributed significantly to our organisation’s growth.”
